Forever beta 1.60.1.70009

On this page 5 sections
  1. What's new
  2. Camp features
  3. Levelling outline (Horde zones)
  4. Gold value
  5. Who wants it
TL;DR
  • Leather off the beasts you kill anyway, plus New Fel Leather/Fel Hide and New Scarce Pristine Leather, Hide and Scale.
  • Camp line: Camp Chair (2% crit) → Field Guide (Track Beasts) → Trapper's Workbench.
  • Feeds Leatherworking, and Pristine mats also go into BS and Tailoring recipes. Every rank trains in Orgrimmar.

What's new New

  • Fel Leather and Fel Hide: new endgame mats for the skill-300 LW epics. Where they come from is not known yet Beta
  • Scarce Pristine Leather, Hide and Scale drop now and then: used in new LW, BS and Tailoring recipes (Chain Belts, Skycaller's Mail Sabatons, Bottomless Reagent Bag, Warbear Helm) Beta
  • Each creature can be skinned once only (beta briefly allowed more, Blizzard reverted it on 1 Oct) Beta
  • Legacy perk Bountiful Harvest finds extra Scarce resources when mining, herbing or skinning Live

Camp features

  • Camp Chair (20): 2% crit with spells and attacks, mutually exclusive with Moonkin Aura Live
  • Field Guide (140): read it to gain Track Beasts, keeps the Chair buff. Blueprint: Lady Anacondra (Wailing Caverns), 0.32% Beta
  • Trapper's Workbench (300): holds 1 trap, keeps the Chair buff. ! Icy Veins' two pages disagree on what the trap is: a skinnable beast, or a Brittle Trap that roots enemies for 10 s. Blueprint: Houndmaster Loksey (Scarlet Monastery), 0.02% Beta

Levelling outline (Horde zones)

Skin what you kill while questing; carry a Skinning Knife. Zones: Icy Veins' leather table plus ForeverDB's route; both name the Barrens, Ashenvale, Thousand Needles, Dustwallow, Stranglethorn, Tanaris and Feralas Beta

  • Light Leather: Durotar, Mulgore, the Barrens
  • Medium: Ashenvale, Hillsbrad, Thousand Needles
  • Heavy: Stranglethorn, Badlands, Swamp of Sorrows, Dustwallow
  • Thick: Tanaris, Feralas, the Hinterlands
  • Rugged: Felwood, Un'Goro, Winterspring, the Western Plaguelands
  • Train the next rank before you cap (skill 50 / 125 / 200) Beta
  • ! Character level for gathering ranks: guides disagree (see the Herbalism post) Beta
  • Trainer: Thuwd, The Drag (Orgrimmar), teaches every rank (Icy Veins; Wowhead: Skinning Trainer) Beta

Gold value

  • No launch prices yet Beta
  • Pristine mats go into LW, BS and Tailoring recipes Beta
  • Our opinion: leather sells steadily to levelling Leatherworkers

Who wants it

  • Leatherworkers
  • Anyone levelling who kills beasts: free mats while questing
  • Every group: 2% crit Camp Chair works for melee and casters, unless a Moonkin is there
