TL;DR
  • In order: riding → Onyxia attunement → the 55-60 dungeon loop (it also earns Legacy points) → professions to 300 → consumables for 9 Dec.
  • The beta stopped at level 30, so nobody has tested 60 content, and there's no real pre-raid BiS yet. Devs say some items stay hidden until someone loots one.
  • Raids open 9 Dec, five weeks after launch.

1. The rules that matter first

  • We're Horde on the PvP ruleset. You can only group, guild, run dungeons and raid with people on the same ruleset and faction.
  • New On the PvP ruleset your account can only make characters for one faction, so all your alts there are Horde too.
  • New GDKP raids are not allowed. Gold buying gets punished hard.
  • New BoP blue/green dungeon drops give their appearance to every eligible looter, so roll only on upgrades. Epic raid drops give the appearance only to the owner.

2. Riding

  • New Mounts use the TBC-style cost: you pay for riding training and get a mount when you learn the skill.
  • ! Guide sites (from beta trainer data) put it at about 100g at 40 and about 1,000g at 60. They disagree on whether the 100g includes the mount. Blizzard hasn't published prices, and the beta capped at 30. Recheck at launch.

3. Onyxia attunement (start early)

  • Every raider needs their own Drakefire Amulet in their bags.
  • Horde route: Badlands → LBRS (twice, ending with Rend) → Orgrimmar → Desolace → W. Plaguelands → Emberstrife in Dustwallow, who sends you after four named dragons → UBRS (General Drakkisath).
  • ! Devs (official podcast, 8 Oct): not account-wide at launch, so alts redo it.
  • Full step list: Onyxia's Lair in Raids.
  • ! The beta client still contains the UBRS Seal of Ascension key items. Whether UBRS needs a key in Forever is unconfirmed.

4. Dungeon loop at 55-60 (pre-raid gear)

  • Suggested order:
    • Anything on your attunement path first (LBRS, UBRS): it gives gear and progress in the same run.
    • New Blackmaw Hold (Azshara, 55-60): a big max-level dungeon with multiple routes. It also connects to the Barrow Deeps.
    • New Shaper's Terrace (Un'Goro, 58-60): bring Un'Goro power crystals for the consoles inside.
    • Classic 50-60 dungeons in Forever's list (Icy Veins): Dire Maul E/N/W, Scholomance, Stratholme (both gates), Sunken Temple.
  • New Every dungeon drop was re-examined. Unique boss items are now blue, set bonuses were improved, and hundreds of drops are new. Don't trust a Classic pre-raid list.
  • New Some items only work in certain environments (Woodlands, Mountains, Deserts) or against certain creature types. Keep situational swaps.
  • New Hit and crit are each combined across melee, ranged and spell. Weapon-skill items give less per item. Use your class page for BiS.
  • New Profession Blueprints drop from specific dungeon bosses. Crafters, check which bosses drop yours.

5. Legacy points worth grabbing at 60 (Blizzard)

  • You can spend 16 per character at launch, and 65 exist to earn. All of these count:
    • Final boss of every 46-60 dungeon: 1 point.
    • Lord Valthalak dungeon set questline: 1 point.
    • Explore the whole world map on one character: 1 point.
    • Raids: Onyxia, all 13 Hyjal bosses, all 8 Barrow Deeps bosses: 1 each.
    • Each non-gathering profession at 150 / 225 / 300: 1 each.
    • Reach 60 on each class: 1 per class (25 and 45 count too).
    • PvP: up to 12 (see PvP).
  • New Perks worth a look for raiders: Diplomat (more rep), Permanence (longer raid and camp buffs), Gourmand (longer food buffs), The Quick and the Dead (faster wipe recovery).

6. Professions to finish

  • Get each non-gathering primary to 300: that's 3 Legacy points each.
  • New Camping: profession campsite objects start at skill 20, and the advanced ones come from Blueprints. Cooks can learn bigger campfires that hold 5 or 10 objects.
  • New Camp buffs last an hour and don't stack with the class buff they copy (e.g. the Sharpening Wheel's Attack Power).
  • New New Horde trade faction: Durotar Supply and Logistics, a major source of new tradeskill activities, with Merchant's Favor to earn.

7. Reputations

  • New Confirmed for Forever: Darkspear Raiders, the Horde rep for the new Darkspear Islands battleground, with gear, consumables and an Exalted tabard (PvP).
  • New Durotar Supply and Logistics (above).
  • ! Classic 60 reps (Argent Dawn, Timbermaw, Thorium Brotherhood and others): Blizzard hasn't said whether they work as before. Fill after launch.

8. Consumables for 9 Dec

  • Fire resistance for Onyxia (Blizzard says build it beforehand). The beta client has Greater Fire Protection Potion and cloak FR enchants.
  • New Crafted food got a major update: some give stat buffs and a small XP bonus. Pick per raid once tested.
  • New Beta client: some buffs give a bonus only inside Mount Hyjal, Hyjal Summit and the Barrow Deeps. Fill after launch.
  • ! World buffs are reportedly stripped in raids (secondhand, not official), so don't plan around them.

9. Gold

  • Budget for level-60 riding first (see 2).
  • New The Bartering Legacy perk cuts vendor prices.
