Druid guide
Forever beta 1.60.1.70009
In the guide 15 sections
- Level Feral: bear from 10, cat from 20, mana saved for heals (Icy Veins and ConquestCapped both rank it first).
- Forms now hit with your weapon's DPS (speed ignored), so a high-DPS weapon is your biggest upgrade.
- New Primal Bite replaces Mangle, Shifting Power replaces Tiger's Fury, Wild Growth and Berserk are capstones.
How Forever talents work
- 3 trees, same 7 rows; first point at level 10; one-point gold medal talents at 11, 21 and 31 points, plus a New new one at 16 points.
- Class-buff talents went baseline: Improved Mark of the Wild, Nature's Grasp (learned 10) and Omen of Clarity (learned 20).
- Respec at a class trainer in a major city. Dual specialisation from level 40.
- The beta stopped at level 30, so anything past 30 below is planned, not tested.
- Every build, as an interactive tree you can step through by level, is on the Builds tab. Levelling trees by spec are on the Levelling tab.
Balance (caster DPS)
- Wrath, Starfire, Moonfire, and New Eclipse: each Wrath makes your next 2 Starfires 0.5 s faster (stores 4 charges).
- 11 points: New Nature's Splendor (longer Moonfire, Rejuvenation, Regrowth, Insect Swarm).
- 16 points: New Insect Swarm moved here from Restoration (Nature DoT, target -2% hit).
- 31 points: Moonkin Form. Its aura is now raid-wide and gives 3% spell crit only. Omen of Clarity procs twice as often in form.
- New Genesis (+5% periodic damage and healing), Nature's Majesty (+4% crit, spells and melee), Overgrowth (Roots on 3 targets).
Feral Combat (bear tank, cat DPS)
- 11 points: Feral Charge. Bear version charges, immobilises and interrupts. New Cat version leaps behind the target (30 s cooldown, no interrupt).
- 16 points: New two gold talents on one row. Primal Bite (bear: 20 rage, 100% weapon damage plus a bonus, very high threat) and Shifting Power (cat: 40 energy for mana).
- 21 points: Leader of the Pack, now raid-wide, 3% melee and ranged crit only.
- 31 points: New Berserk (15 s, 3 min). Primal Bite loses its cooldown and hits 3 targets; cat combo builders get +100% crit; clears and blocks Fear.
Restoration (healer)
- HoT-focused: Rejuvenation, Regrowth, Wild Growth, Swiftmend. HoTs can now crit.
- 11 points: New Gift of the Earthmother (Rejuvenation, Swiftmend and Wild Growth GCD -0.5 s).
- 16 points: Swiftmend moved here from the 31-point slot. New It no longer consumes the Rejuvenation or Regrowth it reads.
- 21 points: Nature's Swiftness (next Nature spell instant).
- 31 points: New Wild Growth. HoT on the target's whole party (incl. pets), front-loaded over 7 s, 6 s cooldown, high mana cost.
- Furor (Resto row 1) is mostly a feral talent: 10 rage on entering bear; cat energy is remembered between shifts.
Best levelling spec: Feral
- Icy Veins and ConquestCapped both rank Feral the best druid levelling spec; Zockify offers Feral or Balance.
- Why: bear and cat fight on rage and energy, so mana goes on heals and shifts and you drink less (ConquestCapped, Zockify).
- Bear for packs, cat for single mobs. ConquestCapped measured bear about 23% faster on 5-mob packs at level 30 ! unconfirmed (one source).
- Slow before 10 (caster only) and before 20 (no cat, no travel speed).
Roles
- Blizzard: druid can fill any role with the right gear and talents, but lacks the utility of warriors, rogues and mages, and has weaker CC.
- Tank: Feral bear. Icy Veins lists Feral Druid as one of its 3 raid tank specs (tiers still TBD).
- Melee DPS: Feral cat. Ranged DPS: Balance. Healer: Restoration. All three are on Icy Veins' raid lists, unranked until logs exist.
- Group utility: Mark of the Wild, Faerie Fire (armour), Rebirth, Innervate, Remove Curse (24), Abolish Poison (26), Leader of the Pack or Moonkin Aura.
Bear rotation (tank)
The rotation as text
- Pull with Feral Charge or Moonfire. Faerie Fire (free in form, 6 s cooldown, now makes threat in bear).
- Primal Bite on cooldown. Lacerate (New baseline at 42, 5 stacks) as the single-target filler.
- Swipe (3 targets, scales with AP) on packs. Demoralizing Roar on hard pulls. Maul only to dump spare rage.
- Berserk on a big pack: spam Primal Bite.
- Enrage gives 10 rage up front, costs armour; use it before the pull.
Cat rotation (DPS)
The rotation as text
- Open from Prowl: Ravage (32+), else Shred.
- Rake if missing and the mob lives ~9 s more.
- Shred from behind, Claw if you can't get behind (Shred at 20 now).
- Rip at 4-5 combo points if the target will live; Ferocious Bite (32+) on targets about to die.
- Shifting Power on cooldown when under 60 energy, so none of the 40 is wasted. It can't be used at full energy.
- Spend Clearcasting on Shred.
Balance rotation
The rotation as text
- Moonfire, then Insect Swarm (once talented), on anything that will live.
- With Eclipse: Wrath, then 2 fast Starfires, repeat.
- Hurricane (40) for AoE: New no cooldown now.
- Wrath is now very cheap and never consumes Clearcasting.
Resto priority
The rotation as text
- Rejuvenation on the tank and anyone taking chip damage.
- Rejuvenation then Swiftmend is a fast big heal on a target with no HoTs.
- Wild Growth when a party takes group damage.
- Healing Touch for big single heals; Nature's Swiftness + Healing Touch to save someone.
Stats
- New Hit and crit are one stat each, covering melee, ranged and spells.
- Feral, both roles: weapon DPS > hit/expertise > agility ≥ strength. Forms swing at a fixed 1.0 or 2.5 s, so weapon speed doesn't matter.
- Feral hit caps (Icy Veins): 8% hit; expertise 6.5% (dodge, cat) or 14% (parry, tanking) ! unconfirmed.
- Bear mitigation: New Thick Hide now turns Defense on gear into armour, so Defense items work for druid tanks. Icy Veins' draft order: armour, Defense to 440, stamina, agility, dodge ! unconfirmed.
- Bear rage: New crits give 100% more rage. Blood Frenzy +5 rage per crit, Natural Reaction +5 per dodge. Bear Form threat bonus is 50%.
- Balance: spell damage, then intellect (Zockify) ! unconfirmed.
- Resto (Icy Veins draft): healing power > intellect > spirit > mp5 > crit ! unconfirmed. Healing power also gives 1/3 as much spell damage.
- New Down-ranking is penalised: much lower ranks get less spell power and a lower Omen of Clarity proc chance.
Other changes vs Classic
- New Mangle is gone; Primal Bite (talent) has no debuff. Tiger's Fury and King of the Jungle removed.
- New Powershifting is gone by design (Furor rework); Shifting Power replaces it at 55% of base mana, 16 s cooldown (Improved Shifting Power: -4/-8 s).
- New In form you can use potions (incl. mana and rage potions), weapon enchants and procs, racials, most doors. Forms are immune to Disarm.
- New Revive: out-of-combat resurrection, level 12.
- Entangling Roots works indoors. Barkskin works in forms. Growl cooldown now matches Taunt.
- Frenzied Regeneration can heal 100% of max health over its duration (with enough rage).
- Thorns uses Classic base values plus 6% of your spell power.
- Dire Bear Form at 40, Travel Form from the trainer at 30.
- Form quests: Bear 10, Aquatic 16, Cat 20 (Moonglade). Cure Poison is a level-14 quest.
Race choice (Horde)
Horde druid races: Tauren and New Skyborne (Windshaper; needs the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher). Icy Veins and ConquestCapped both say the differences are small for Feral.
- Tauren: War Stomp (5 targets in 8 yd, 2 s stun, 90 s), Cultivation (duplicate a herb, 15 min). Endurance is now just +5% health. New Plainsrunning: +2% speed per stack to 60%, not mounted.
- Skyborne (Windshaper) New: Wind Blessed +2% haste. Skysight: +15% speed for 15 s, or 30% while Charged (1 h, from an elemental convergence; drops on raid entry). Walk on Air: 10 s glide, 90 s cooldown.
- Racials now work in form, incl. War Stomp and Walk on Air.
Professions
- Skinning + Leatherworking: farm what you kill, craft your own leather (Icy Veins, ConquestCapped).
- Herbalism + Alchemy: potions and gold; Tauren get extra herbs from Cultivation.
Gear pointers
- No verified level-60 BiS or pre-raid list yet; raids open 9 Dec.
- Manual Crowd Pummeler (Gnomeregan) is the standout ~level 30 feral weapon in both Icy Veins and Zockify.

- Why (Icy Veins): Ferocity makes Maul, Primal Bite, Swipe, Claw and Rake cheaper; Brutal Impact makes Bash your breather; Berserk at 40 pairs with Dire Bear Form for 3-target Primal Bite pulls.
- Where guides disagree: ConquestCapped says skip Shredding Attacks and Shifting Power while levelling (mana cost, Shred needs you behind the mob). Zockify takes Shifting Power late to save mana for heals. Icy Veins and wowforever.gg take it at 25.

- Takes both 16-point talents so one build can tank (Primal Bite) or DPS (Shifting Power). Drop one only if you will only ever play that role.
- Blizzard marks Primal Bite and Natural Reaction (row 6: +5% dodge, 5 rage per dodge) as bear talents, Shifting Power as the cat one.
- Zockify's dungeon-tank levelling build is 0/41/10 with Primal Bite, Feral Instinct and Natural Reaction (no share link).
- Past 30 the tree above carries on with our own order to the same 9/42/0 (slide it to 60). That part is our suggestion, not Icy Veins'.
Balance at 30 (Icy Veins dungeon build)
- Icy Veins' 21-point Balance build for level 30, the beta cap. 16/0/5. Source: Icy Veins Balance PvE guide (updated 25-28 Oct).
Restoration at 30, dungeon healing (Icy Veins, corrected)
- Pure healing build: Nature's Focus 5, Naturalist 5, Gift of the Earthmother at 20, Reflection 3, Gift of Nature 5, Swiftmend and Nature's Swiftness by 30. Much slower at killing things alone.
- ! Icy Veins' own calculator link for this build loads an illegal tree: every point sits one talent early, from an older tree layout. We moved each point by one and the result matches Icy Veins' text. Our corrected calculator link.

| 51–55 | Vengeance | 5/5 |

- Icy Veins picks Improved Wrath over Nature's Focus first (cast time and 50% cheaper Wrath). Zockify's Balance build is also 36/0/15 and also opens with Improved Wrath.
- Vengeance waits until late because you have little crit while levelling (Icy Veins).

- Zockify's healer build (11/0/40) has Swiftmend at 25, Nature's Swiftness at 30 and Wild Growth at 40.
Raid builds at 60 (theory, untested)
- Nobody has played past 30 in Forever and raids open 9 Dec. These are wowtbc.gg's "Standard" Forever builds (read 31 Oct), checked talent by talent against the game's tree. Expect changes once logs exist.
- Each spec's raid rotation sits under its tree.

Balance (wowtbc, 38/0/13)
Restoration (wowtbc, 11/7/33)
PvP at 60 (theory, one source)
- RankedBoost's Restoration PvP build (0/11/40), built on beta client 70450. Low confidence: one source, and nobody has played 60 yet.
- Hard to kill: shift out of Polymorph, stun whoever comes for you, keep HoTs rolling.

Macros
Both from ConquestCapped. Forever's macro conditionals are ! unconfirmed by a second source: test them on day one.
- Travel:
/cast [swimming] Aquatic Form; [outdoors] Travel Form; Cat Form - Resurrect:
/cast [combat] Rebirth; Revive - One key for water, outdoors and indoors travel; one key for both resurrections (Revive is New, level 12).
- ConquestCapped also suggests putting your heals on the cat and bear bars so you can heal straight after leaving form.
- No powershift macro: Furor no longer gives extra energy on re-entering cat (Blizzard removed powershifting on purpose; Shifting Power is the replacement).
Cooldown Manager
- New Built in, off by default: Options > Gameplay Enhancement. It pulls buffs and cooldowns from your buff bar and action bars into a spot you place.
- Supports all classes, racials and trinkets; consumables come later. Spell ranks now show as one entry.
- Icy Veins suggests tracking Thorns (10 min) with it so you remember to recast.
Our suggested layout (a suggestion, not tested on live):

Druid levelling
Forever beta 1.60.1.70009
In the levelling 14 sections
- Level Feral: caster to 10, bear from 10 (quest), cat from 20 (quest), Travel Form at 30.
- Bear with Swipe for 2-3 mobs, cat for one. A higher-DPS weapon is your biggest upgrade.
- Horde druids are Tauren (Mulgore) or New Skyborne (Zephras Isle); each race has its own bear quest.
New What changed for a levelling druid
- Form auto-attacks use your weapon's DPS at a fixed 1.0 or 2.5 s swing: weapon speed does not matter, only DPS.
- Swipe now scales with attack power. It still hits 3 targets.
- Potions (incl. rage potions and Thistle Tea), weapon enchants and procs, racials and most doors work in form.
- Nature's Grasp (10) and Omen of Clarity (20) are baseline. Revive (12) is new.
- Tiger's Fury is gone. Its replacement, Shifting Power, is a 16-point talent that costs mana.
- Lower-level (green) mobs give less XP than in Classic, so long grinds on green mobs pay less Beta
Which spec, when
- 1-9, caster: Wrath and Moonfire from range, keep Thorns (6) up, finish with your staff when mana runs low. Every guide calls this the slow part.
- 10-19, bear: pull with Moonfire (or Faerie Fire from 18, free in form), shift, Enrage, Demoralizing Roar, Maul. Shift out to heal between fights.
- 20+, cat for one mob, bear for two or more: Icy Veins and ConquestCapped agree. Cat form has no AoE at all.
- 30: Travel Form, +40% speed outdoors.
- 40: Dire Bear Form and the Berserk capstone: Primal Bite hits 3 targets with no cooldown for 15 s (3 min cooldown).
- Why Feral: Icy Veins, ConquestCapped and Method all pick it. Forms spend rage and energy, so your mana goes on heals and shifts and you drink less.
- Balance is the caster option: Icy Veins says it is slow early, fun from about 25, and has no real AoE until Hurricane at 40. It drinks more.
- Guide sites rate druid levelling speed 3.10 of 5 on average, 6th of 9 classes (10 lists, all pre-launch).
Bear pulls (AoE): what works
- Swipe hits 3 targets for 20 rage. Feral Instinct 3/3 adds 30% Swipe damage.
- Thorns hits everything that strikes you and now gains spell power. Icy Veins and ConquestCapped both call it strong on multi-mob pulls.
- ConquestCapped's pull: Thorns, Rejuvenation and Regrowth on yourself, Moonfire 3-5 mobs, shift, Swipe; Primal Bite once 2 or fewer are left. Pick melee mobs and Feral Charge the caster.
- ConquestCapped measured bear about 23% faster than cat on packs of five green mobs at 30 ! one source.
- From 40, Icy Veins: pull a large group with full rage, pop Berserk in Dire Bear Form, press only Primal Bite.
- Limits: Swipe and Berserk's Primal Bite both cap at 3 targets, and green mobs give less XP. Expect 3-5 mob pulls, not mage-sized packs (our read).
- Tauren War Stomp stuns up to 5 enemies for 2 s (90 s) and works in form.
- No Forever source has measured druid pulls or XP per hour past level 30.
Talents
- First point at 10, one per level, 51 at 60. New The 16-point talents (Primal Bite, Shifting Power) need 15 points in Feral first: level 25 at the earliest.
- The Legacy perk Talented gives points up to 5 levels early (see Legacy system). Dual Specialization unlocks at 40.
- Respec at a class trainer in a major city. Calculator links: Druid builds

- ConquestCapped and Zockify skip or delay Shifting Power to keep mana for heals; Icy Veins takes it at 25.
Feral, ConquestCapped's order to 29 (no Shifting Power, no Shredding Attacks)
Point order as text
- Ferocity 5, Feral Swiftness 2, Feral Instinct 3, Sharpened Claws 2, Savage Fury 2, Feral Charge, Primal Bite, Blood Frenzy 2, Predatory Strikes 2. Saves mana for heals; switch to the Icy Veins order at 30.

- Always train (Feral): every rank of Maul, Swipe, Claw, Rake, Rip, Shred and Ferocious Bite, and your heals. New Ranks far below your level get less spell power, and you heal out of form.
- Skip as Feral (our call, spells you won't press): Starfire, Hibernate, Soothe Animal, Tranquility, Hurricane; Wrath ranks once you pull with Moonfire or Faerie Fire.
- Training costs are not published for Forever. ConquestCapped warns druid ranks cost a lot of gold.
- Moonglade has a druid trainer (Loganaar) you can reach any time with Teleport: Moonglade (10 s cast).
Class quests (Horde)
Bear Form, 10, Tauren
- Heeding the Call from your druid trainer, then Turak Runetotem on the Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff.
- Moonglade (cast Teleport: Moonglade): talk to Dendrite Starblaze, then the Great Bear Spirit.
- Back to Thunder Bluff, then Body and Heart: kill Lunaclaw west of Camp Taurajo, Barrens (42, 60), and talk to its spirit. Root it if you need a breather.
- Turn in to Turak for Bear Form. Leave Moonglade by hearth or the flight to Thunder Bluff.
Bear Form, 10, Skyborne New
- The Great Ursera Spirit (Lotheluum Starbreeze, Valanaar, Zephras Isle), then Strength and Mercy from Urs'endris: kill Ur'endra in the cave at 53, 64 (enter from the north). Icy Veins calls it the fastest of the three.
Cure Poison, 14 !
- Method: Lessons Anew from your Thunder Bluff trainer. No Forever step list found. Optional in our view: Abolish Poison is trained at 26.
Aquatic Form, 16
- A Lesson to Learn (trainer, Thunder Bluff), then Dendrite Starblaze in Moonglade: carry the Shrine Bauble from the lake bottom to the Shrine of Remulos.
- Trial of the Sea Lion: one pendant half is in a chest in the Sludge Fen pond, Barrens (57, 8); the other off Silverpine's west coast (30, 29) ! Icy Veins only.
Cat Form, 20 New new quest
- The Great Cat Spirit (RestedXP: from Turak in Thunder Bluff), then Moonglade: three relics in the Stormrage Barrow Dens, back to the spirit, then Dendrite.
- Skyborne get The Great Windborne Cat Spirit instead (Avatar of Saeyleenan, Moonglade).
- RestedXP does the cat and aquatic quests in one Moonglade trip at about 20.
No quest: Travel Form (30) and Dire Bear Form (40) come from the trainer.
Past 30 !: Zockify says a level-50 chain from your trainer (Torwa Pathfinder) leads into Sunken Temple. One source, never beta-tested.
Gear and stats
- Weapon DPS first: forms ignore weapon speed (Icy Veins, Zockify, ConquestCapped).
- Then hit and crit (New one stat each for melee, ranged and spells), agility, strength (Icy Veins). ConquestCapped: agility, strength, stamina, with a little intellect and spirit for heals.
- Two-handed maces and staves: Icy Veins' and Zockify's weapon lists; RestedXP trains Two-Handed Maces in Thunder Bluff. Zockify adds polearms from 20 ! one source.
- Feral items two sources agree on:
- Segmented Spider Leg (agility staff), Witherfang, Ruins of Lordaeron
- Serpent's Shoulders (leather), Anacondra, Wailing Caverns
- Manual Crowd Pummeler, Gnomeregan (29): 3 charges, recharged with a 9-60 Battery Pack (Engineering)
- Loksey's Training Stick, Scarlet Monastery Library
- Balance: spell damage, then intellect (Zockify). New Caster weapons now carry spell damage.
- Balance staves two sources agree on: Odo's Ley Staff (Shadowfang Keep), Spine of the Devourer (City of Dalaran).
Professions and consumables
- Skinning + Leatherworking: skin what you kill and craft your own leather (Icy Veins, ConquestCapped, Method). The New Camp Tent tops rested XP up to 5% of a level.
- Herbalism + Alchemy: your own potions; Tauren get extra herbs from Cultivation.
- New Crafted food adds +5% kill XP Beta. Healing potions moved to First Aid Beta. See Professions.
- Potions, rage potions and Thistle Tea all work in form now.
- Camp buffs: skip the Enchanted Lute (does not stack with Mark of the Wild). The Camp Chair does not stack with Moonkin Aura.
Macros (test at launch)
/cast [swimming] Aquatic Form; [outdoors] Travel Form; Cat Form/cast [combat] Rebirth; Revive- Both from ConquestCapped; Forever macro conditionals are ! unconfirmed elsewhere. Also put your heals on the cat and bear bars.
Common mistakes
- Shifting on an empty tank: Bear, Cat and Dire Bear each cost 55% of base mana (Wowhead database, ConquestCapped); Travel and Aquatic 20% (Wowhead only). Keep enough for a heal plus the shift back.
- Cat to bear and back without Furor: you lose your energy. Furor 5/5 brings it back (Restoration row 1).
- Pulling 2+ in cat: cat has no AoE. Go bear.
- Letting Thorns drop: it lasts 10 min; Icy Veins suggests tracking it in the Cooldown Manager.
- Late form quests: Bear at 10 and Cat at 20 are your two biggest jumps (ConquestCapped, Method).
- Staying on green mobs: they give less XP; move on.
- ! Two community guides (ConquestCapped, Method) say combo points no longer vanish when you switch target; they stay on the mob you built them on.
Fast route
- Tauren: Mulgore 1-12, then The Barrens. Skyborne: Zephras Isle 1-12, Silverpine 12-14, then The Barrens.
- Then Stonetalon, Barrens and Ashenvale to 22: see "Horde 1-22" in Levelling. Past 22, see "22-60: zones by level" there; no verified route exists.
- Druid stops on RestedXP's route ! one source:
- Tauren at 10: bear chain via Thunder Bluff and Moonglade, finished at Lunaclaw on the way into The Barrens.
- 14 (Tauren) and 18: Teleport: Moonglade to train with Loganaar.
- About 20: Thunder Bluff, then Moonglade for the cat and aquatic quests; the Sludge Fen pendant half is on the way west.
Dungeon picks
- Blizzard: dungeon cleaving must not be the fastest way to level. Stack the dungeon quests and go once. Final bosses count towards Legacy points (Legacy system).
- Ruins of Lordaeron (15-20): Segmented Spider Leg.
- Wailing Caverns (15-24): Leaders of the Fang (Nara Wildmane, Thunder Bluff); Serpent's Shoulders. Icy Veins: Hammerbone from that quest !
- Shadowfang Keep (20-30): Odo's Ley Staff for Balance.
- City of Dalaran (28-33): Spine of the Devourer for Balance.
- Gnomeregan (29-38): Manual Crowd Pummeler.
- Scarlet Monastery Library (33-41): Loksey's Training Stick.
- Bear tanks: guide sites rate Feral the 3rd 5-man tank (3.40 of 5) behind Protection Paladin and Warrior. Swipe holds 3 mobs; Challenging Roar (28) is your panic button.
- One post per dungeon: Dungeons.
Unverified until launch
- Everything past 30 (the beta cap): talents, Dire Bear, Lacerate, quests.
- Shapeshift costs, the Cure Poison quest, and Dash (Wowhead lists it at 26; the beta client has no Dash).
