Addons for WoW Forever
Forever beta 1.60.1.70009
On this page 12 sections
TL;DR
- Turn on the built-ins first: Cooldown Manager, damage meter, quest map markers, One-bag. They replace a lot of old must-haves.
- Forever uses the modern addon API with Midnight's combat restrictions: no combat log for addons. The original WeakAuras has no Forever build.
- Each addon below is marked (author ships a Forever build) or ! (check at launch).
Legend
- confirmed Forever = the addon page lists the Forever flavour with a Forever file (CurseForge, checked 30 Oct). It does not prove every feature works.
- ! check at launch = fork, beta-labelled, no Forever build, or behaviour unproven.
New Built in now (skip the addon)
- Cooldown Manager: off by default. Turn it on in Options > Gameplay Enhancement. Covers all classes, racials and trinkets; each spell's ranks show as one entry. Consumables are planned for a later patch.
- Quest points of interest and objective blobs on the map: on in the Enhanced preset, off in Classic. The quest tracker also shows each quest's level requirement.
- One-bag (combined bags): on in Enhanced, off in Classic.
- The preset is only a starting point: change any of these later in Game Menu > Options.
- Damage and healing meter: Blizzard's own meter, toggled in Options.
- Aggro Display: a built-in threat option. Type "Threat" in the Options search to find it.
- Gamepad: official controller support, labelled beta. It adds class flyouts and a swing timer on the centre reticle.
- Edit Mode: rearrange the default UI. Layouts save per UI type (keyboard or gamepad); cast bars are customisable there.
- Auction House: shows item suffixes, an equippable-level column and the stats of suffixed items.
- Also in Options: an Auto Attack/Auto Shot setting (Hunters swap between melee and Auto Shot by themselves) and detailed Scrolling Combat Text settings.
! Addon API restrictions
- Forever runs the modern (retail) UI and addon API, not the Classic one. Interface version 16001, TOC game type
forever. - Midnight's "addon disarmament" rules (secret values) are active in Forever. No Blizzard post on this; the source is the Warcraft Wiki, backed by addon authors.
- Addons cannot read the combat log. Meters read Blizzard's server-side meter (
C_DamageMeter) instead. - Old Classic addons will not simply work. Use a Forever build.
- ! unconfirmed (one addon author): the classic aura API stops updating hidden auras in combat, and threat on some bosses is hidden in combat.
- Out-of-combat addons (quests, bags, maps, AH) are not targeted by the restrictions.
Questing and levelling
- Questie: quest givers, objectives and turn-ins on the map. v12.3.1 (26 Oct). ! Check that it marks Forever's 1,000+ new quests: its own to-do list (29 Oct) still has native Forever testing pending.
- RestedXP Guide: step-by-step route with auto quest accept/turn-in and an objective arrow. v4.11.29 (29 Oct). The 1-20 guide is free; the full Forever guide costs $30 per faction or $45 for both (currency not stated).
- Guidelime: free route guide. v6.012 (27 Oct). The author says "guides are already being worked on". ! Check route coverage at launch.

WeakAuras

- Musca Auras: a port of WeakAuras 5.22.0 to Forever (client 1.60.1). ! fork, v1.14.0 (22 Oct). Combat log triggers never fire; use its Aura (Modern) trigger for in-combat buffs. On import it reports auras that need fixing.
- ForeverAuras: another WeakAuras fork. ! labelled "under development during beta", v1.1.0 (28 Oct).
- Try the built-in Cooldown Manager first: it pulls cooldowns and buffs off your bars into a spot you place.

- TradeSkillMaster: ! no Forever flavour on CurseForge (30 Oct).
